Research

Hi, I’m Saam, a medical student from Germany. I have always been fascinated by how the human brain gives rise to cognition and behavior in both health and disease. In the future, I aspire to specialize in neurosurgery or neurology and pursue a career in restorative medicine, helping people regain lost functions and improve their quality of life. Therefore, I want to combine my clinical experience with my training in neuroscience to gain both the perspective of a clinician and that of a scientist. In my research, I investigate working memory and the causal role of the prefrontal cortex by analyzing data from patients with PFC lesions, building on the foundations laid by the Helfrich Lab. Besides research and clinical work, I enjoy lifting weights, playing soccer, writing my novel, and experiencing new cultures.
