Join as a Researcher
We are always happy to discuss individual options to join the lab at all levels. Open positions will be advertised on the official website of the Hertie Institute, but if you are interested in joining, please do not hesitate to contact Randolph. Research opportunities for B.Sc./M.Sc./M.D. students can always be tailored according to individual interests. Most likely, we will be able to recruit PhD students in 2023/2024 and offer fully-funded positions, but if you are interested in applying for a fellowship (e.g. Landesgraduiertenförderung oder Studienstiftung), we’d be happy to discuss options. At the postdoc level, we are happy to support individual fellowship applications for prospective candidates (e.g. through the Humboldt Foundation, DFG or DAAD). For clinician-scientists with an interest in neurology/neuroscience, please contact Randolph to discuss options, Tuebingen offers a range of intramural funding opportunities.
Opportunities:
- M.D. Thesis Projects: We are always open to discussing potential projects for medical students with an interest in neurophysiology. A research semester is not mandatory, but students who would like to focus on science are supported when applying to e.g. the Promotionskolleg.
- M.Sc. Thesis or Rotation Projects: We have multiple opportunities for M.Sc. projects as well as rotation projects and the barrier is never a lack of projects, but sometimes a lack of time. We typically try to offer two positions per semester.
- Research Assistant Position: We currently have no formal openings, but students who are interested in our research should contact Randolph to discuss options. RA positions are compensated by HiWi contracts.
- Prospective Ph.D. Students: We have a fully-funded PhD position that will become available in 2024. The formal call will be advertised on this website and on the website of Hertie Institute later this year. Informal inquiries can already be send to Randolph to discuss options.
- Postdocs and Clinician-Scientists: Individual career trajectories are different and we are happy to work with you to tailor your postgraduate training according to your goals and needs, so please feel free to reach out to discuss options in person.
